22 external aluminium door set replacements
NZR Windows & Doors Ltd was appointed by Lindon Bennett School in Feltham, West London to replace the external door sets across the school estate. The existing doors had reached the end of their serviceable life and were no longer operating reliably for daily use across classrooms, courtyards and staff areas.
The requirement was a complete like-for-like upgrade to modern commercial aluminium door sets, finished in RAL 7016, delivered as one coordinated programme rather than piecemeal replacements — and completed within the school holiday period so every opening was operational for the start of term.
Two conditions dominated the programme. First, several of the existing door assemblies were extremely heavy and fully glazed, so each panel had to be released and removed under controlled conditions before the frame could be taken out. Second, once finishes were stripped back, concealed metal fixing lugs were discovered built into the surrounding structure on a number of openings.
Those lugs could not be seen at survey stage. Each one had to be located, cut back and made safe before the opening could be squared and prepared — additional work on individual openings that could easily have pushed the wider programme past the return-to-school deadline.

NZR resequenced the programme around parallel work areas. While one opening required additional release work, cutting back or preparation, other engineers continued with installation, glazing, making good and final adjustment elsewhere across the school.
This prevented individual unforeseen conditions from delaying the wider programme. Heavy glazing was managed using coordinated team handling and appropriate lifting equipment, while each completed opening was treated as an individual handover point rather than being left until a final snagging rush.
All 22 identified external door sets were completed before pupils returned to school. The programme delivered 20 single and two double-door sets as one coordinated package, with no unfinished installations left for the start of term.
Every completed set was adjusted, aligned and operationally tested. Final checks covered smooth opening, controlled closing, correct lock engagement, thresholds, seals, hardware, perimeter sealing and internal and external finishes — leaving a consistent, fully finished external door installation across every identified location.
