Fleetdown Community Centre Atrium Glazing Replacement

Appointed by Dartford Borough Council following a tender process to remove and replace the glass atrium around three sides of the building — new uPVC framing, solar reflective double-glazed units, trims and flashings.

    Client

    Dartford Borough Council

    Sector

    Local Authority / Public Buildings

    Location

    Fleetdown, Dartford, Kent

    Project Type

    Atrium glazing replacement

    01

    Overview

NZR was appointed to replace the existing glass atrium around three sides of Fleetdown Community Centre. The project required safe roof-level working, careful removal of the existing glazing system and installation of a new clean, weather-resistant atrium glazing solution.

    02

    The Challenge

The existing atrium glazing was aged and weathered, with dated framing and perimeter details. The work had to be completed around a live public community building, meaning safe access, clear communication, controlled working areas and minimal disruption were important.

    03

    Scope of Works

    • Removal of the existing glass atrium around three sides of the building
    • Safe handling and disposal of old glazing and framing
    • Supply and installation of new uPVC framing
    • Installation of solar reflective double-glazed units
    • New mouldings, trims and flashings
    • Roof-level access and safe working controls
    • Perimeter weathering details and finishing works
    • Internal and external making good where required
    • Coordination with the Council and community centre users
    04

    Our Approach

NZR planned the works around the live site environment, roof access and continued use of the community centre. Materials were delivered and stored safely, work areas were controlled, and the installation was completed in stages to remove the old system and replace it with a modern glazing solution. The team completed the framing, glazing, trims and flashings to create a clean external finish and an improved internal appearance.

    05

    Outcome

The works were completed professionally and to a high standard. Dartford Borough Council provided a written reference confirming the quality of the works and positive feedback from the community centre users and management. Following this project, the Council used NZR for further glazing works and commissioned NZR to assist with specification work for another community centre in the Borough.
